Weekend Rodeo

This weekend, the Perryton Rodeo Association and Frank Phillips College will host the Frank Phillips College, West Texas A&M University, and Clarendon College National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) College Rodeo at the Ochiltree County Arena in Perryton. The collegiate rodeo kicked off yesterday evening, and there will be performances at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Admission is $5 on Saturday evening. A concession stand will be open during all the performances, with the net proceeds from the concessions going to the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus Unrestricted Scholarship Fund.

There are 16 schools and an estimated 450 contestants involved in the rodeo. Colleges participating in the rodeo are ones that are located west of I-35 in Texas, south of the Oklahoma border, and east of I-25 in New Mexico.

Saturday Night Dance
In addition to the rodeo, the Perryton Rodeo Association and the Wheatheart Celebration Council are co-hosting a dance featuring the band Rosehill from Cypress, Texas. The dance will be held at the Expo Center from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, and admission is $10 per person.
