Show Time

The 2012 Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show activities are officially underway at the Expo Center. The show will take place tomorrow (January 27), and the sale will be Saturday (January 28).

Preparation for the show began Tuesday when 4-H and FFA members set up for the show, and exhibitors brought their animals to the Expo yesterday and today.

The show officially begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the steer show, and the heifer show will follow. Then, the sheep show will take place, followed by the meat goat show. There will then be a 30-minute break before the swine show begins.

Saturday, the annual Buyer’s Appreciation Dinner will take place at noon. The Parade of Champions will begin at 1:30 p.m. At this time, stock show winners will be recognized and will receive prizes. Then, the sale will begin at 2.

This year, 112 students ranging from third to twelfth grade will participate in the show. They’ve been working with their show animals for months. Following the show, some students will go on to exhibit their livestock at statewide shows in Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, and San Angelo.

We encourage you to attend the show and sale to support the local kids and see the results of their hard work!
