Safety First

Would your child’s car seat pass inspection? It’s time to find out! On Thursday, March 28, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office is hosting a child safety seat checkup. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Expo Center, certified technicians will provide on-site inspections and education.

Child Safety Seat Guidelines

The best way to keep children safe is to make sure they are in appropriate seats in the backseat of the vehicle. The law requires safety seats for children under the age of eight, unless they are taller than 4’9”.

Guidelines for child safety seats are as follows:

  • Use a seat that is appropriate for the child’s age and size.
  • Make sure it is installed properly in the vehicle.
  • Ensure that it is adjusted to fit the child securely.
  • Check the seat’s manufacturer’s note on weight and height restrictions.
