Local Stock Show & Sale

The annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Association Stock Show and Sale will be held January 25 and 26 at the Expo Center. Everyone is invited to attend the show and sale.

Set up for the show begins Tuesday, January 22 at 5 p.m. Animals can begin arriving on Wednesday at 6 p.m. and continue to arrive from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday. All animals must be in place by 6 p.m. on Thursday with weigh-in beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the show begins at 10 a.m. with the steers followed by heifers, sheep, and meat goats. The pig show begins 30 minutes after the conclusion of the meat goat show. Once the pig show is over, clean up and set up for the sale will begin. Chris Fishbacher will judge the beef, sheep, and meat goats, and Jason Lackey will judge the pigs.

There are a total of 105 4-Hers and FFA members exhibiting. They entered 175—18 head of cattle, 26 sheep, 17 meat goats, and 114 pigs. 4-H exhibitors are under the supervision of Scott Strawn, Ochiltree County extension agent. FFA members are under the supervision of JoBonney LeCompte, Perryton FFA advisor and Perryton High School vocational agriculture teacher.

The sale will be held on Saturday. The Buyer’s Appreciation Dinner will begin at noon. The Parade of Champions will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the sale following at 2 p.m.
