Golf Tournament Roundup

If you’re looking to hit the golf course this summer, you aren’t limited to playing regular rounds. There are also multiple tournaments and scrambles this summer at the Perryton Municipal Golf Course. Here’s a roundup of this season’s remaining competitions.

Oil Patch Tournament
The Oil Patch—Perryton’s favorite and longest standing tournament at 39 years and counting—is Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8. Tee-off on Friday is 1 p.m. On Saturday, it’s at 7 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. Tee-off is at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The entry fee is $500 per team, plus $45 for each golf cart rental. Although there are no longer Friday or Saturday spots available, there are still tee times on Sunday. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 435-6575.

Thursday Night Scrambles
Once again, the golf course will be holding Thursday night scrambles, but this year they have a new format. The captains of the four-person teams will be chosen based on handicaps. Captains will then use the blind draw format to choose their teams from the remaining players. Each Thursday there will be a winner. If there is a tie for first place, there will be a sudden-death shootout on hole nine from 100 yards.

The entry fee is $10 per player. Players must register and pay by 5:45 p.m. each Thursday. The scrambles end July 26.
