Gearing Up for Relay for Life

If you’re interested in participating in this year’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life event, it’s time to start putting together (and registering) your team. The overnight event will start on Friday, April 27 at 7 p.m. and will go until 7 a.m. on April 28 at the Expo Center.

The event goal is to raise money to fight cancer and also to celebrate cancer survivors and remember loved ones who lost their battles with cancer.

Everyone is invited to participate. Prior to the relay, teams should seek sponsorship. Local businesses like Perryton Office Supply and RadioShack, United Supermarket, Texas Farm, First Bank Southwest, and Margarita’s are also among the community sponsors. The money raised will go directly to the American Cancer Society’s programs. “The funds raised enable us to continue our investment in the fight against cancer through research, education, advocacy, and services to patients,” says Margie Earp, the event chair.

“Many participants are our family, friends, and neighbors who have been cured of cancer themselves,” Margie adds. “Their involvement is proof of the progress that has been made not just in cancer cure rates but also in the quality of life following cancer treatment.”

If you would like information about how to form a team or otherwise become involved in Relay for Life, call Margie at 202-0311 or Kelly Brown at 202-0408. To register a team or to donate, visit the Perryton page on the Relay for Life site.
