A Look at Area Artifacts

For those who have an interest in prehistoric and historic artifacts, the 2012 Perryton Stone Age Fair is this Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Museum of the Plains (1200 N. Main).

At the event, artifact collectors will showcase their prehistoric and historic Indian artifacts and their pre-settlement era (specifically military or buffalo hunting) collections. People will have the opportunity to meet fellow collectors and enthusiasts at the fair and can learn about the artifacts on display.

In addition, archaeologists will be on hand to identify artifacts. So if you have an artifact you found and would like more information about it, feel free to bring it to the event (even if you do not want to put it on display).

There is no cost to attend, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. If you would like additional info or would like to reserve table space to showcase your collection, contact Courson Archaeological Research at 434-0157. Buying, selling, or trading artifacts at the event is not permitted.
