2014 Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration Schedule

Perryton’s annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration is in full swing! As we commemorate Perryton’s 95th birthday, this year’s theme is Celebrate the Good Times. Below are the schedule and entry forms for the weeks’ upcoming events.

Friday, August 15
7:30 p.m. – Perryton Rodeo Association (PRA) 16th-Annual TCRA Rodeo – Rodeo Arena

Saturday, August 16
TBA – Beehive golf tournament – Perryton Golf Course
8 a.m. – Big Brothers Big Sisters 5K and Family Fun Walk – PHS parking lot
10 a.m. – PRA 18th-Annual WRCA Junior Ranch Rodeo – Leatherman Park
6 p.m. – Reza, illusionist performance (tickets: $15, available at the door or advance pick-up at Ellis Theater) – Ellis Theater
7:30 p.m. – PRA 16th-Annual TCRA Rodeo – Rodeo Arena
10 p.m.–12 a.m. – Rodeo dance with Sam Riggs – Expo Center

Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; August 18, 19, and 21
TBA – Perryton Activity Center (PAC) sand volleyball tournament

Monday and Tuesday, August 18 and 19
7 p.m. – The Conservatory of the Plains children’s musical performance of Peter Pan Jr. (tickets: $10 adults/$5 students, available at the door) – Perryton High School Auditorium

Wednesday, August 20
7 p.m. – Community worship service – Whigham Park

Thursday, August 21
5 p.m. – Perryton-Ochiltree County Chamber of Commerce Retail Trade Council block party and Texas Farm free pork burgers – Main Street
5:30 p.m. – Lions Club watermelon feast, Masonic Lodge grocery giveaway, and PTCI’s sausage-on-a-stick feast – Court House
8–10 p.m. (following the block party) – Buster Bledsoe Band: free performance – 2nd Street

Friday, August 22
8–11 p.m. – Dance featuring the band Insufficient Funds – Perryton National Bank parking lot

Saturday, August 23
6–9 a.m. – United Supermarket’s free breakfast – United Supermarket parking lot
8:30 a.m. – Old Timers Reunion – Whigham Park
9 a.m. – Muscle car exhibition – Perryton National Bank parking lot
9 a.m.–4 p.m. – Festival in the Park, arts and crafts show – Whigham Park
10 a.m. – Wheatheart of the Nation parade – Main Street
11 a.m.–3 p.m. – Museum of the Plains Pioneer Day – Museum of the Plains
11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. – Barbecue, provided by Baby Butt’s BBQ – Expo Center
1 p.m. – PAC golf tournament – Perryton Golf Course
6 p.m. – Demolition derby – Rodeo Arena
6 p.m. – Quebe Sisters, Connie Smith and the Sundowners, and Ed Montana performance (tickets: $40, available at the Chamber) – Perryton Junior High School auditorium
